Vermont's HIE, Vermont Information Technology Leaders, is contracting with Orion Health for an integration program that the organizations say will make interoperability far easier for the state's medical practices and hospitals.
Vermont Information Technology Leaders, or VITL, which uses Aetna’s Medicity HIE, is partnering with Orion Health to try to simplify ongoing interoperability efforts using the company’s Rhapsody integration product.
“We have significantly improved our ability to onboard new providers, which can now be done in days versus months,” said VITL CTO Michael Gagnon in a media release. In general, he said, the new capability will offer more “reliability, scalability, ease of use, monitoring, alerting, and short learning curve perspective.”
Orion’s integration system works with EHR vendors to automate meaningful use-compliant functions, maintain and manage interfaces through software-as-a-service, and standardize enterprise integrations.
VITL, a nonprofit created by the state legislature, has connected 13 of Vermont’s 14 hospitals and three hospitals in neighboring New England states, and more than 160 physician practices, helping them share clinical messages and lab and radiology tests.
